PIERRE NKURUNZIZA PROFILE
Pierre Nkurunziza is from the province of Ngozi in northern Burundi, where he was born on 19 December 1964. He attended elementary school in his home town and continued his secondary education in Gitega- Province. In 2005, Nkurunziza was elected President. President Nkurunziza was re-elected June 28,2010 for a second term as president of the republic of Burundi, unprecedented in the history of the country, where it was used in elections followed by killings, displacement and exile of hundreds of thousands as people. Pierre Nkurunziza is known as a man of dialogue. He spared no effort to reach a peace agreement with the last rebel group, the palipe-hutu FNL, and later FNL political party. The final cease- fire was signed in December 2008.
