Rubondo Island Mammals and Birds

To date, more than 200 species of birds have been identified in the park, some of which are migratory species from East, Central and West Africa.  Rubondo has an abundance of herons, storks, ibises, egrets, cormorants, kingfishers, and birds of prey. It is believed that the park has the highest density of fish eagles in the world. Admittedly, Rubondo Island National Park is also a migratory route of birds from Europe, Central, East and West Africa. The birds that come all the way to take refuge in this park include;

3. White Pelican.
4. Open – billed stork.
5. Spoonbill stork.
6. White stork.
7. Marabou stork.
8. Saddle – billed stork
9. Fire finch.
10. Yellow – billed stork.
11.  Emerald – spotted wood dove.
12.  Red – capped robin chat.
13. Pin – tailed whydah, etc.
