Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a bucket-list adventure, and choosing the right time to go can greatly enhance your experience. While the mountain is accessible year-round, weather conditions vary significantly throughout the year, affecting visibility, trail conditions, and summit success rates. The best times to climb are generally during the dry seasons when skies are clear, trails are less muddy, and the chances of reaching Uhuru Peak are much higher.
January to mid-March is one of the prime climbing windows. These months offer relatively mild temperatures, lower crowds compared to the mid-year peak, and good visibility. Though occasional short rains can occur, especially in March, the overall conditions are favourable for a successful trek.
June to October is the most popular and driest season to climb Kilimanjaro. With clear skies and stable weather, this period attracts many climbers, especially from Europe and North America. However, trails can get crowded, particularly in August and September, so early booking is recommended if you prefer this window.
