Domestic Tourism Safaris welcomes passionate individuals from around the world to join our Volunteer & Internship Program in Moshi and Arusha. Whether you’re a student, graduate, professional, or simply someone with a big heart and time to give, this program offers a unique chance to experience Tanzanian culture while supporting local communities. Volunteers work closely with our local team to create real, lasting impact through a variety of community-driven projects.
Our volunteer projects are designed to meet real needs on the ground. You can choose from areas like education support, orphan care, building and renovation, medical internships, or sports coaching. You might help teach children in schools, support clinics, take part in community construction, or lead football sessions with local youth. Each placement is carefully supervised and allows volunteers to learn while contributing meaningfully.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and available for a minimum of 4 weeks, though stays of up to 6 months are encouraged for deeper engagement. We provide proper orientation on arrival, and our friendly local coordinators offer ongoing support throughout your stay. Most placements operate Monday to Friday, with weekends free to explore Tanzania’s beautiful attractions, from safaris to Mount Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar.
The volunteer fee covers your accommodation in a shared volunteer house, two daily meals (breakfast and dinner), airport pickup, placement arrangement, and full-time support from our team. You’ll also receive a welcome orientation, local SIM card assistance, and access to cultural activities. For medical interns, a small monthly fee is paid directly to the hospital to support resources and supervision.
Volunteers are responsible for their application fee, lunches, local transport, humanitarian visa, vaccinations, insurance, and personal expenses. Optional tours like Kilimanjaro trekking, safari trips, or Zanzibar holidays can be arranged at discounted volunteer rates for those who wish to explore more of Tanzania during or after their program.
